Drafty

The football draft was yesterday, and my first round pick was Tomlinson. He is listed as a BUST by most sources, but when he fell to me at #9 I didn't have much choice but to take him. It will be a feast or famine situation with my team this season. I've had luck with these type of choices in the past, so we'll just have to see how it goes.

Going to a family dinner when my little bro gets into town later today. Will finally have a reason to use my new camera. I'll try to get some pics on here (or Facebook) tomorrow if I have time, but it's back to work, and then another family dinner tomorrow night at my Dad's.

Usually I spend most of the day Sunday dreading work on Monday, but this time around I am armed with the knowledge that when this week is over I have four days off. Yippee!

I'm not really sure why I dread going to work. My job is not a bad one at all. I guess it's just my nature to buck the system, schedules, conformity, etc. All of that has to be kept at bay now, because I like money, and I have bills to pay! The new, more responsible me isn't as much fun, but it keeps me out of trouble, and I'm sure eventually I will find a balance of work AND fun.

Fat Cat on Satin Sheets

Fat cat Sid is next to me. And yes, we have satin sheets. When buying sheets you have to ask yourself, What would Heff do? You know damn well that Daddy Puffin would have them.

Tomorrow is our fantasy football draft. I don't think I am well enough prepared. Though really, who ever is? You just try to get who you think is best when it comes your turn. There is no crystal ball available to tell you who will do what.

I do know that one thing I will do differently this season is to not start drinking until the later rounds. Not that I did all that bad last year, (came in 2nd, losing the championship came by less than a point) but I'm on the new, "Don't eat crapola until you are about to pass out" diet, and I just don't want my judgment clouded by a few tall boy Bud Light's on an empty stomach.

My youngest brother and his boyfriend will be in town Sunday afternoon. Cannot wait to see them. He was here last Christmas, but it seems like much longer than that since I've seen him. He leaves Wednesday morning, so we'll have to cram in everything we can in a short amount of time.

It's probably goes without saying (assuming you know me at all) that I am excited about the release of Halloween II. Rob Zombie is a genius when it comes to making movies so violent that your stare in amazement.

I thought House of 1,000 Corpses was the bomb diggity, and then he topped it with The Devil's Rejects. I still haven't recovered from seeing that old Three's Company girl in such a nasty role. Crap, what was her name? Teri, I think.

Small time pic ho alert! My super cute nephew. Every time I look at this pic I want to do a massive old lady squeeze to his cheeks!

What A Load

I knew as soon as I laid eyes on him that the fridge repairman was borderline retarded. The stupid thing is already starting to freeze up again. I am ticked, beyond ticked even. Might as well have thrown a couple hundred dollars in the crapper and flushed it down. Grrrrr...

Speaking of crappers, I have a friend that says she can only poop after getting completely naked and basically squatting (feet on the seat, balancing somehow) over the bowl. This of course interested me, so I asked how she managed to pull that off at work, or while she was on vacation, etc. She said she didn't. Would just hold it until she got home. For days if need be.

Truthfully, a large part of me thought she was making it up, until today when she tells me that when she got to work her stomach started hurting, forcing her to go. She said she dropped the kids off at the pool successfully, but was traumatized by the whole thing, and was sure it would take a long time to get past it.

Since mental image is not enough, I tried to Google pics of something similar and believe I hit the jackpot:

Look at the one on the right. That would be her, except naked, and not so Asian.

And to think I blogged this in hopes of proving a point that other people are more strange than I am. Guess that's shot all to hell.

Good things: The week is going by relatively quickly, and it's Ghost Hunters night.

Say Cheese

I've been using the same old digital camera for forever and a day. But after some prodding from the girl child because of her photography class this year, I relented and bought a new one today.

It's shiny, has a super large viewer, and a lot of mpx's...me likey. Let's just hope it makes it home from high school each day. If not I will blogging about a certain 15 year old being put up for adoption. :)

I'm sure the new camera will re-fuel my old photography bug, so be prepared to see lots of pics soon.

I'm making red beans and rice for dinner. Hope I have the stuff to make cornbread. It's not quite the same without it. I soaked the beans overnight, but I'm sure Mrs. Leslie will still be feeling some rumblings during the night. Ah, just checked, cornbread is a go. Cheddar even. Yippee!

Nine

During the card drawing for draft spots yesterday one card on the table stood out to me. Called my name even. I just knew it was the #1 spot. I didn't hesitate, or re-think it as I often do. Just went for it. I turn it over, there it is, #9. Huh? Nine!?! No more beer before card drawings. It clouds my ESP.

I rushed over to Booksamillion right after it was over to pick up some fantasy football magazines so I could form a strategy for picking at that lower spot. What did I find out? That by the time it gets to me there won't be poop left to choose from. My first pick might as well be Nell Carter. Oh wait, she died, um still might as well be her I guess.

One good thing to note is that if memory serves me correct (and God only knows if it does) the year I came in 1st I had drafted in that spot. But I also recall getting lucky and having Priest Holmes fall to me there. People had passed him over, and he wound up being the best running back in the NFL that season.

I wish I had time to tell the story of the world's dumbest waitress at Hooter's yesterday, but I need to get ready to go to my nephews baptism. Maybe I'll squeeze it in tomorrow if I'm not too worn out after work.

Where Was I?

Oh, that's right, Ghost Hunters. It was a good episode. Sooooo glad the original version is back!

I am thrilled that tomorrow is Friday. It has been a long week.

The next two weekends are going to be busy. Fun, but busy. Saturday afternoon I'll be meeting my brother and "the guys" at Hooters to draw for where we will pick in the draft. Beer and football talk is always high on my list of fun. I won't say that going to Hooters is fun because I value my life.

Saturday night might be spent meeting up with an old friend of mine, and my sister and her GF. She was my sister's best friend growing up, and then she and I became better friends in adulthood. She used to babysit my hellions when I worked. Her husband is named Shea, but my boy child could never pronounce that, choosing instead to call him "Shakes" lol.

Sunday my nephew will be baptized, so of course we will be going to that. I love that kid!

The next weekend I have the actual fantasy draft. Love.it. Then Sunday night my youngest brother and his boyfriend will be in town, so we are going to meet up with them. They will only be here a short time, but I'm always happy when I get to see them.

I haven't taken any pictures lately, so I swiped these off the girl child's Facebook. The first is of her. The second, of her looking love struck at her boyfriend. Grrrrrrr...

GHI

Going to squeak one in before the new season of Ghost Hunters starts.

Finally was able to get our fridge fixed Monday. Wound up costing $197, and then had to go last night and buy groceries to restock it...ouch. Still, I'm glad it's finally taken care of.

Oops, Ghost Hunters starting now. :)

Can't Make This &^%$ Up

About an hour ago I witnessed something I've never seen before.

Nancy, who I guess had just used the litter box was on the floor near me grooming her nether region. She had her leg hiked up way high, over her head even. I guess the position was a strain, I'm not sure, all I know is next thing she does is FART IN HER OWN FACE. Loud. So loud it scared her, and she took off running.

I can't stop laughing about it!

I mean, I've done some pretty messed up stuff in my time, but farting in my own face is not on that list. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even try. Well, unless there was a dare involved...or some sort of money payout for accomplishing such a feat. But even then I would know it was coming, and it certainly wouldn't startle me or make me take off running.

I'm just going to stop right here, because the mental image is making me laugh so hard that my face is starting to hurt.

Clueless

Until yesterday I had no idea that peg legged (or skinny jeans as they are now called) are back in style. When the girl child picked two pairs of "skinny" jeans to take to the dressing room I just thought it was a reasonable choice because she is small. However, when she came out to show me, I was shocked to see the bottom of the legs so tight you couldn't fit a quarter in there.

Where were these jean makers twenty years ago when I was in high school? We had to do a complicated "tuck and roll" process to get ours that tight. And then you usually wound up having to redo it several times a day just to keep it looking right.

Another random blast from the past that I found out is back is Converse. I was surprised when she said those were the shoes she wanted. Huh? No Nikes, Reebok, New Balance? Nope. Converse. I clearly remember the teal pair of Converse high tops I wore until they fell apart. Weird.

We have woods on the far end of the house, and Michelle had set up a nice sitting area for us complete with table & chairs and hanging lantern lights. We sat out there last night sipping mojitos and beer. Of course this is the South, so we had to burn enough citronella to fight off the entire mosquito population of any small Northern city just to keep from being eaten alive. We had Sid & Nancy out there with us, and let them play. It's good to get the "kids" some play time, lol.

Ha!

The weekend has finally arrived! Have a few things I need to accomplish, such as getting my hairs did, purchasing the required school supplies for the girl child, and all three of us need new clothes.

Michelle has Monday off as well. I'm thrilled for her. She never takes off, and needs a day of peace and quiet. Not sure it will be totally quiet though because we have a repairman coming out to look at our stupid refrigerator that has been freezing up. I hope he gets it fixed, and hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I found a solution for what to do about Sid & Nancy while we are at the beach. My sister volunteered to come by and check on them. I'm sure I'll still worry what they are up to, but they'll be fine.

Don't Stand Down Wind

Had a run in with some nachos for lunch. Almost crapped my pants on the way home from work. Happy to report I made it just in time and am feeling like a new person!

Glad tomorrow is Friday. This week has seemed to go on forever!

We completed Season 4 of the L Word last night. As far as season finales go, this one wasn't all that. I will say I was happy to see Jenny adrift at sea in that raft. I hope a shark leaps up out of the water and eats her.

I fell asleep before Ghost Hunters came on. Oh well, it was the International version. Next week it will be back to the regular version. I will watch all of those, even if I have to keep my eyes pried open with toothpicks. Ok, not really, because that would hurt.

Big Time

Today my "baby" joined the big kids rank and attended her first day of high school. No, I didn't cry, but I did make sure she knew where she was going. She did fine, of course. She's vowed to make better grades now because they count more. I hope she keeps her word. I would love to see her go to college.

I missed over half a day of work in completing her registration. They really need a new system. We sat for almost three hours before her name was even called. We played Tic-Tac-Toe, Hangman, some game where you complete squares on paper, and then drew funny pictures to pass the time.

Sid & Nancy are well. Nancy wakes me up at night by climbing on my head. The cat fountain we ordered online for Sid doesn't work. %$#@! Now we will have to go through the hassle of returning it. That really is the only negative thing to be said about shopping online...returns suck.

ABC's

School starts back tomorrow. Beautiful, glorious, school! Yay!!!

Couldn't blog yesterday. One of the lines somewhere had been cut. Probably just as well. I was tired. Monday makes me that way.

My quest to eat better has been up and down. There was a bump in the road today when I consumed some nachos. It was a reasonable quantity, still, not the best choice. I'm going to try to skip dinner to make up for it, but nachoville was way back at 1:30pm, so we'll see how it goes.

I've started listening to sports radio each morning and afternoon in the car. The anticipation of football season is high. Bama is starting the season ranked 5th. I still can't believe I will be on a trip the weekend of the first game.

The 22nd my league draws it's fantasy football picks. It only takes a few minutes, and is really more of an excuse to go to a bar and drink beer. The 29th is the actual draft. I still have lots of preparation to do. Can't just go in there willy nilly and start busting out names. These things take research and time.

Got no sleep last night because Sid and Nancy were making an Oreo sandwich out of me on the bed. If I rolled either way one of them would have been squashed. I like to move around a lot when I sleep, flipping from side to side, so I guess you can understand why this didn't work very well.

What the???

Where the hell did Saturday go? Seriously. I hate when that happens. Blink, and it's over. It's not that Sunday isn't cool. You're still free to do what you want, but with the added sense of impending Monday gloom hanging over your head.

I don't think I have mentioned my laptop in a while. I still love it, and am contemplating making out with it. Honestly, sitting in bed doing my work (and play) on here is so much better than being stuck out in the living room in a hard wood chair. I usually don't make big purchases for myself, but this one was well worth it.

Michelle pointed out to me yesterday that the F-bomb is dropped about 50 times per L Word episode. I found that funny, and tried to use it every other word for about an hour. Eventually I grew bored, and afraid that God would not be pleased with my behavior, so I stopped. Can't promise I won't do it again after watching the next episode though.

We had Taco Bell for dinner. Won't go into detail, but I'm feeling it this morning. I have GOT to make good on my promise to eat better. I say it every day, then eat crap (not literally). I've forgotten what fruit even tastes like. Whole grains. Huh? Water. Bring me a beer, thanks. Blah!!!!!

TLC

Fell asleep too early, woke up too early. Oh well, maybe it will make Saturday seem to last longer.

The girl child made me breakfast. Scrambled eggs and toast, yum. She did a good job. I need to teach her how to cook more things. One day she will be on her own, and I want her to be prepared.

Nancy made mincemeat of the toilet paper yesterday. She is a mess. A cute mess though. I will post some pics of her soon.

So far, so good

I have a so far, so good book recommendation. It's called, "Free For All" and is written by a former librarian. It chronicles his adventures at the library, and all the weird people and things he experienced there. Quite humorous so far, so if humor is your thing, might want to check it out.

School starts back August 12th. Part of me is thrilled, the other part not so much. We leave for work before the girl child gets up. This means there is no way for me to hound the crap out of her, and make sure she is up, dressed, and out the door on time. Girl child, if you are reading this...make sure you are up, dressed, and out the door on time!!!

Back to school means back to football is right behind. It's too great for words, so I will end it here.

Enclosure

Yes, I realize I talk about the cats alot, but hey, that's about all the excitement I have lately. The latest is that Nancy pooped on the girl child's bed. She also pulled one set of living room curtains down. No, I did not beat her.

We stopped and bought better litter. She is a poop machine, and the scoopable kind was a must! Sid still chooses to go outside, (thank God) but is extremely interested in the fact that she does it in a box in the house.

We ordered a cat fountain for Sid. Finally, no more standing at the sink waiting for him to get his drink on.

Netflix came through with another L Word dvd. I forget what number we're on...still somewhere in season four. Even though it's leaning toward goofy, it's still totally watchable. Might squeeze one episode in before my beloved Ghost Hunters comes on.

Zzzzzzz

Wow, am I beat today. Blinking feels like work. I feel like I ran a marathon, and trust me, I came nowhere close to that amount of activity. Me thinks I might need some vitamins.

Kitty X is now named Nancy. We already had a Sid, so now we need a Nancy. I don't think lazy Sid could exactly be called "Vicious" but what the hell. They are trouble like those two though.

While I was at work I thought about something I wanted to blog about, but in my present condition I am drawing a blank. Maybe tomorrow...

The Board

We had to make a trip by the board of education this afternoon to sign a paper needed to get the girl child registered. I thought it might be a hassle, but it was quick and painless. Now to just get to the school and complete step two, which will in no way be painless since it involves having to pony up lots of my hard earned dough.

The latest horror movie watch was, "30 Days of Night" which was about vampires. Vampires are not my favorite creature of horror movie fame, but this one was alright. It had been thought out enough to have the vampires pulverize a small town in Alaska after the daylight season was over and they had a month of dark. Interesting and conceivable concept. Well, assuming vampires existed, and I'm fairly certain they do not.

I actually cooked yesterday. I don't do it often anymore unless it's on the grill. I believe I am a little rusty. Made two things - pasta and cookie bars - undercooked them both. Luckily it wasn't to the point where they were inedible.

Kitty X decided to pull a Hoodini this morning when Michelle took her out to use the bathroom. We had to leave for work with her missing. I'm happy to report that the girl child found her back at the front door around 11am, and she is safely napping at my feet right now.

One thing I had not considered until last night is what we will do with them both when we go on our trip. I'm not sure how cats would act on an 8 hour car ride. I suspect Sid would cry the whole way...he is very vocal. We are going to give them a few rides when we run errands and see what happens.

Kitty X

No name kitty took a poop on the bathroom rug, then moved on the the living room to pee. I guess this took place some time after we fell asleep. Right now she is snoozing, and looking cute and innocent. Hope she doesn't repeat her actions while we are out shopping today.

Sid is still not a fan, and has chosen to spend very little time indoors since her arrival. He doesn't seem to want to open a can of whup ass on her, just more annoyed that she exists than anything.

I made burgers on the grill yesterday, and though we like them a little pink, they were way too pink. I can still taste it, even after coffee, and it's not pleasant.

Natural

Everyone is sleeping. I am doing laundry and blogging obviously.

Not sure what we are going to do today. I know the boy child wants to go get new earrings. He has worked his way up to those larger than normal ear holes, but not the ones that make you picture the person old with huge sagging holes in their ears. Luckily, he has decided to stop where he is, but wants something different than the stick through the ear ones he has now. I don't blame him. I think those spikes would annoy the crap out of me.

The girl child brought a kitten home last night. Not at all what we needed after just recently adopting Sid. This one looks to be around 8-10 weeks old, is gray and white, and is a female. Sid isn't a fan.

We talked about what to do with her, but really there aren't many choices. Can't put her back in the neighborhood. That would be like dumping a baby. Humane society is an option, but not an attractive one. Then of course there is keeping her. There has already been talk about kitten food and a litter box, so I think I know where this is headed.
