One Small Step

I purchased my first website today. I will freely admit that I know nothing about how to operate it. I suppose I will learn this is the same way I learned everything else about the internet, trial and error.

I hesitated to pull the trigger, due to concerns about my lack of programming knowledge, but this site was turnkey. I only have to learn how to make adjustments to the elements that are already present.

The site is not a new concept, and certainly will not make me rich. However, it was a step in the right direction. Once I get the hang of it, it's on, baby! I'll be buying up sites left and right.

I'll post it when it's live in a few days. Until then, waiiit for it.

My Other Love

Yes, my other love. Thought I only had one? Well, this love spurs no jealously, because it is not living.

Enough with the riddles. I am talking about my obsession with the paranormal. This obsession started with I was ten years old, and has yet to let up. The show, Ghost Hunters is my guilty pleasure. It used to be my one and only, but now it has competition.

A&E now airs a show called My Ghost Story that rocks my socks. I cannot believe I am going to admit this, but at times, the stories actually scare me. This is not just a show where people sit and tell their story. They show the proof they have to back it up.

Last week, they showed a picture of a woman ghost caught in a mirror. I swear to you, she looked just like Jamie Lee Curtis from her first Halloween movie, except with some demon eyes. I tried to wake Mrs. Leslie up to comfort me, but was met with only a, "Well, turn the channel if it is scaring you!" I do not respond well to logic, and continued on.

I suppose I am not alone in my obsession, and new ghost shows are cropping up all the time. "Haunted Collector" is set to air the same night that the new season of Ghost Hunters does (Wednesday June 1 at 8/7c). Of course I will be watching to see if any possessed dolls jump off the dresser and attack their owners. Good fun!

Black Swan

Black SwanStepping away from the money chat today, to talk about Black Swan.

After hearing how good it was, I of course added it to my Netflix list. I'll admit I was a tad worried, since ballet is not at all one of my favorite interests. The top advocate of this choice was my brother, who is a dancer, so that did not provide me with the peace of mind that I was not about to waste an hour and forty-eight minutes of my life.

After watching it, I would recommend it to anyone. However, those that are able to better understand the meaning of events that are not literal, will enjoy this movie better than others. I, being a realist, must always see things in black and white, and feel the need to understand every element of why something just happened, and be able to piece together what it all means.

I have been a fan of Natalie Portman since she was in "Where the Heart Is" and even enjoyed her performance in "Paris, Je T'Aime" which I was bullied into watching by my better half. Portman does this role well, and is deserving of the accolades she received from it.

My vote? It is worth your time, but be sure to open your mind before you watch it, and do not be disappointed if you do not fully understand the full meaning of the sequence of events.

Send Earnings

Send Earnings will pay you not only to read emails, but also for taking surveys, signing up for free offers, and and for shopping.

You will be paid $5 just to sign up, and signing up is free. Payout is reached at $30. I have been paid once, and am not far from receiving my second payment.

This is yet another simple way to earn, without much effort on your part. Reward sites such as Send Earnings are an excellent way to collect some green for doing next to nothing. No, it will not make you rich, but free money is free money, right?

Hits4Pay - Deals 'n Cash

You look at advertisements for free each day, and these are usually forced on you. Ever wanted to get PAID to look at them? Well, you can.

There are two sites that will pay you an average of $0.02 for each ad you view. You do not have to do anything else. Just log in, see what is available, click, view, get paid.

The beauty in these sites is that they are free to register at. Hits4Pay offers you a $10 bonus just to register, and Deals 'n Cash is offering $5. Both have a payout level of $25, so these amounts will automatically put you closer to that amount.

I have been paid by each site once, so I can verify that they are legitimate.

Swagbucks

If you are online a lot, and most of us are, you should be getting paid to do the things you already do. Swagbucks will pay you for the goofing around that you already do online.

They will pay you for: searching the web, playing games, shopping, watching videos, and filling out surveys. When you do these things, you accumulate points that you can redeem for gift cards. Since you most likely do a lot of these things anyway, earning points is gravy. Do what you do, get free stuff, sweet deal.

Swagbucks is free to sign up for, and free to use. Yes, I sound like a walking advertisement for the site, but I promised to show you how I earn money and free stuff online, and this is a good one.

Coolsavings

This is where I shamelessly plug one of my newest articles: How to Become An Extreme Couponer. I'm certainly no expert, but I have learned a lot about how to stop letting free money pass me by. Since a large part of the money we spend each month goes on food, it just makes sense to use coupons.

Some "extreme" experts say pick one store and stay with it no matter what. But I usually use Walmart for coupons that will not double (usually anything over $0.50), and Publix or Winn Dixie for coupons that will. Unlike the people featured on the TLC show, I do not come out with the mother load of grocery hauls for a dime, but I do save a lot of money. Money I can use for beer, and other things I should not have.

I do get the Sunday paper, but I also print coupons online. Printing online allows you select only the coupons you are going to use, so you do not waste ink. I like to use Coolsavings for most of my online coupon printing. They offer more than just online coupons, having local deals, online coupon codes, and recipes.

Do The Doba

If you want to sell on eBay, Amazon, or any other auction site, you will need products. Sure, you can sell everything in your house, but about the time you run out of that stuff, your auction addition is in full swing, and you are looking around like a crack head for what to sell next.

Before you throw that tennis bracelet you gave your daughter for her birthday up for auction, consider this: drop shipping.

14 Day Free Trial from Doba

Once you order it, the product is shipped directly to the buyer. You never have to touch it, package it, tape it, or lug it to the post office.

Doba is one of the most reliable drop shippers online. Right now they are offering a 14 day free trial. In order to take full advantage of the trial, simply do the following:

Login to your account to choose products to sell

Opinion Outpost

If you like to take surveys, you will really enjoy getting paid to take them. Ignore all of those internet ads that want you to pay to get the list of paying survey sites. I can tell you which are real, and which aren't.

Opinion Outpost is the site I get the most checks from. I get a lot of survey opportunities from them because I took the time to complete all of their profile questions. You do not get paid for filling out the profiles, but it does help them send you more surveys, and surveys that you will actually qualify to take.

Once you reach $20, you can get paid. Most surveys pay around $2, and take about 30 minutes of your time. Not too shabby if you are just messing around online anyway.

Some involve a company sending you a product to test. Last week we tried two boxes of Wheat Thins. I told what I thought of them, was paid $5, and had two free boxes of crackers. By the way, both boxes tasted good, so it was win-win.

Registration at Opinion Outpost is free. Click Here to sign up!

This Year's Emmy Awards

Thanks for the article from Antone Medina

I am a big TV nut and I watch a lot of it. I am always excited to watch the Emmy awards. This year some of my favorite shows won and I had to give credit to the award voters for picking these shows for honors.

One of the best actors that won was Jim Parsons who is Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. I was also cheering for Steve Carell who plays the character of Michael Scott on The Office, which is also one of my favorite shows.

I was disappointed when Edie Falco won for best actress in a comedy. I know she's a great actress, but I don't watch Nurse Jackie. I was hoping that Tina Fey would win that category this year. Tina is! one of my favorite actresses.

I never miss the show Modern Family and I was so delighted when they picked that show to receive the award for best comedy. Although, for drama I was hoping that Lost would win since it was the shows last year on and instead they picked Mad Men.

I recorded The Emmy Awards with my DVR and watched it on my satellite TV from www.Tvbydirect.com. I love this technology it has made my life so much easier and I love the fact that my TV schedule is whenever I want it to be.

Income Answered

Friends and family are always asking how I make a living online. There is no one answer, as I do all sorts of things, but the bulk of my money comes from article writing. This is not for everyone, but there are several things that you can do to score a few extra bucks, as well as free gift cards.

I do too much to cover it all in one post, and I am pressed for time, so I will cover one thing in each entry. You'll just have to keep checking back to learn everything.

Let's talk about MyLikes.

This site pays you to "like" companies on Facebook, and will pay you extra to share their links on your Twitter and Facebook accounts. When you share something, you will be compensated based on the number of clicks it receives. The click amount varies, but the average seems to be in the $0.10 to $0.20 range.

This might not sound like much, but they have lots of offers to choose from. I do very well because I have thousands of Twitter followers, but even a casual user can easily reach the $2 payout minimum each week.

The site pays via PayPal each Friday, and is free to join: Sign Up at MyLikes

The Calvary

Volunteers from everywhere have arrived to help with the tornado efforts. Even crazy Charlie Sheen showed up. I could make a million jokes here, but since he did seem to truly want to help, I'll keep my mouth shut.

I removed all the limbs and debris from the yard. Once the city picks up the pile of limbs, our house will look like nothing ever happened. I wish I could say that about everyone's home.

I found it hard to get work done this week. Working from home requires extreme self-discipline, and as few distractions as possible. Well, the distractions have been plenty, and show no signs of letting up for the remainder of the week. I can only hope that next week will be more calm, and I will have less interrupted time in which to work.
