Sick Days Buy Time

Home early because I'm sick, so I might as well update the blog while stuck in bed.

I usually don't like to be apart from my better half, but have to admit it's fun right now because I can watch Man vs. Food, which she hates with a passion because it is "gross and disgusting".

As always, last week was busy. My son had a job interview. It went well, and we are hoping to hear some good news soon. He has no major bills, but I do want him to be able to pay for his own auto insurance because it is so expensive. Aside from that, he needs to have his own spending money, and to start saving for his own place. I love both of my kids dearly, but I will not be that person with 30 year old children still living at home.

This week was Pride Week in Birmingham. Michelle and I headed out to Sloss Furnace Sunday to check it out. It's always fun to go to Pride, but I find it extra fun because it takes place at a location that is supposed to be super haunted ( See: Haunted Sloss )  We got a few drinks, watched a few performances, and then I drug her for a quick pass through so I could take pictures. I didn't catch any ghosts, but did get one orb in this shot:

Ghosts or not, I never tire of taking pictures there because it is architecturally and historically interesting. I could have stayed much longer, but Michelle still isn't acclimated to the miserable Alabama heat, and that day was HOT. Can't wait to go back in August for the annual BBQ cook off for food, booze, and music.

Here is one more shot I took, which I want to show off because it's so good that it could be on a post card for the place...

Just Peachy

Where does the time go? I blink, and it's been a week since I last posted. Everything seems to be a blur between going to work, my internet marketing side work, the kids, Mrs. Leslie, errands, misc. obligations, exhaustion. My one guilty pleasure being Facebook, which I probably spend too much time on.

Staying home today. Waited half of it anticipating the arrival of Directv, coming to fix the cable in my son's room. Happy to say the guy is in there now getting it done.

While waiting, I cleaned the kitchen and made a peach cobbler. Not sure I've ever made one before, or sure how it would turn out, but since Mrs. Leslie is having seconds I would call it a success (or maybe she's just really hungry).

Girl child is playing The Sims. The boy child is off somewhere with his friends. Mitchell, if you read this, the grass needs to be cut. :)

Sherlock HolmesIt took us a full week to complete watching "Sherlock Holmes." Good movie though, worth the start/stop and for sure worth renting.

Next up on the Netflix queue is, "The Blind Side." I'm pretty sure from all I've heard that I'll like it. Should be here Monday...hope we can watch it all in one sitting this time.
